Updated: Mar 6

Abbotsford, BC — Abbotsford School District parents, students in Grades 4–12, and educators are invited to a free, engaging seminar designed to help students improve learning, reduce stress, and achieve better academic results. Study Smarter, Not Harder… with Your Brain in Mind takes place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at WJ Mouat Secondary School, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. and the event beginning at 7:00 p.m.

The evening, hosted by the Abbotsford District Parent Advisory Council, will feature Terry Small, nationally recognized brain and learning expert known as “The Brain Guy.” Terry Small has helped more than 260,000 students across North America develop effective study habits using research-based strategies grounded in neuroscience. His practical, high-energy presentations are designed for students of all abilities and focus on skills that can be applied immediately.

During the seminar, families will learn how the brain works and how to use that knowledge to study more efficiently. Topics include improving memory, taking better notes, managing time, tackling textbooks with confidence, and preparing for exams with less stress. Parents and students attend together, making it a shared learning experience that supports success at home and at school.

“This seminar gives families tools they can use right away,” said Winsome Rauch, District Parent Advisory Council President. “Students don’t need to work longer hours to succeed—they need the right strategies.”

The event is free, but space is limited. Attendees are asked to reserve a free ticket for each family member attending.
